One of the defining figures of Hungarian sociology explores how the principle of equal-opportunities has been satisfied in recent decades, or rather, whether it has been satisfied at all. A common social theme often discussed is that of the limits to social mobility. This lecture analyses possibilities for mobility in light of sociological research, with added emphasis on the role of education. It constructs a model of the individual's possible movements within society and discusses in depth those skills, social privileges and opportunities that are often exaggerated to the extreme, but in reality form part of a highly complex system.
