Chess is considered at once a sport, an art and a science. Today, the game’s connection to the world of computers, the Internet and information technology is growing stronger. Both a 2,000-year-old tactical game and a topic at the cutting edge of IT, chess is experiencing a renaissance in countries such as India, China, Canada and Australia. “Chess is not an objective but a tool,” say those teachers who use chess. But what skills can we learn with the help of chess? How does a chess player think? How does a grandmaster think? Can this type of thinking facilitate our decision-making away from the chess board?
